Questions, answered

Borehole drilling in Durban & KZN.

Which areas does Ekhaya Projects drill boreholes in?

Pinetown, Westville, Kloof, Hillcrest, the Highway Area, Durban North, uMhlanga, Ballito and regional KwaZulu-Natal developments. We work from 29 Caversham Rd, Pinetown, with mobile drilling units and support bakkies.

How deep can you drill a borehole?

Our rigs have 100m+ deep rock capacity. We drill through solid rock until the primary water-bearing fissure is struck and high-yield output is confirmed, typically between 85 and 120m+ in the confined aquifer.

What happens during a borehole project?

Four steps: we survey the site with geophysical hydro-siting and fault-line detection; set up our tracked rig and drill with DTH pneumatic percussion hammers; drive heavy-gauge steel casing to bedrock; and drill on to the water table, confirming high-yield output.

Do you install pumps and water storage as well?

Yes. We install solar-driven and electrical submersible borehole pumps, JoJo tanks with pressure sensors and variable-speed booster pumps, and steel casing, and we certify yield with a test of the aquifer strike pressure.

How much does a borehole cost?

It depends mainly on how deep we have to drill, how much casing the ground needs, and what the borehole is equipped with: pump, solar panels, tanks and filtration. Kelvin quotes for your property after a site survey. What sets the price of a borehole
